Question for all you scrappy crafty people

I have dabbled in altered art. I have done just a few things to try my hand at it, given inspiration from many many many blogs and some of my scrappy friends on line. I am mainly a lay out girl to be quite honest with you, but there is so much out there now in the scrap book community that is more then just lay outs. All of this altered art popping up all over the place. Altering cigar boxes, or bird cages, lamp shades, anything that someone can get their hands on and get their creative juices flowing to alter I have seen on line. There are wonderful pieces of art out there but my question is.........what do you do with it when you are finished?
That is my problem. I have done a couple of canvas's just for the fun of it. I have altered a dress form, and I have altered a box. Everything that I have altered now sits in my room either in a drawer or on a shelf collecting dust.
I have decided that I am not going to waste my time dabbling in altered art anymore because I dont do anything with the pieces that I create, so why create them?
What do you do with your work? Do you display it on a shelf, do you give it away as gifts, do you sell them at crafts shows? I dont have the room to continue to make sure that sits around. The good thing about scrapbooking is that I do a lay out and it goes in an album.

So we had some storms last night

and they were pretty much done and over with by the time I went to bed around 10:30. But out of the blue there was a tree in the back yard of mine and my neighbors house (I live in a duplex with a fense seperating our yards) this huge tree smack dab in the middle decided that it didnt want to stand anymore, and just cracked right at the base and fell to the side of my neighbors house landing on her roof.
What amazes me is that this was right in my small back yard, where my bedroom window faces and I had my window open but dont remember hearing this crack or feeling it hit the house. My son who has his room downstairs said that he felt the house shake.
I was woken up by both of my dogs barking and my neighbor pounding on my door. Scared the beeeeeegeeeeegiiiizzzz out of me at midnight.
So, our fence that seperates our yards it down, the tree is suspended still in the air because the top part of the tree landed on her side of the roof, and is also being supported by her wire trellis thing that she has in her yard.

She's spreading her wings

And leaving the nest...........
My baby girl, Mariah will be 20 in September has decided to leave the nest. Im sad about this today and having a hard time dealing with it. She's not moving far, but it's the whole concept of her actually moving out and being independent and not needing me anymore that has me sad. When did she grow up on me? It just seems like yesterday that she was this little girl that I dressed up in frilly dresses and hair bows.
Adorable right?

And now she is this woman, like she grew up right before my eyes and I didnt see it coming. When did she get so grown up and independent? It's like it happened over night. I didn't think that this day would be here so soon. with her going to college close to home, I just assumed that she would live with me for several more years yet. But an apportunity came up to move in with some friends and the rent is pretty cheap, so she decided that she wants to take that LEAP in life and become even more independent.

Here she is all grown up.
I know I posted this lay out about a month ago or so, but its the most recent layout/picture that I have of her.

On the flip site my son who will be 18 in August is super excited that his sister is moving out because he gets to move his bedroom down stairs. And now that he will be downstairs I actually have the option of taking his bedroom and making it into a scrap room, but...........the mothering side of me says not to jump right in there because what if she needs to move back home? So we will leave the room alone for now......because you never know.
Anyways.........thanks for listening..............Im just a bit SAD today. :(

Good Luck

This is a lay out that I have put into a shadow box for a co worker. The picture is of our team. We have all worked together for many years and she is getting ready to move. So we thought it would be fun to take a group photo and have me do a page and put it into a shadow box for her to take with her.
Just random PP's uses, Prima and I am Roses flowers, perfect pearls, some random K & Co butterfly stickers, some trim a tag with some glimmer mist and fiber and a touch of colored feathers.

Graduation is in the air

With alot of my blogger and on line friends...............I'm seeing alot of posts about graduation, cards that are being made, parties that are being planned, events that are taking place, colleges that are being visited and the list goes on. Brought back sweet memories for me when my daughter Mariah graduated from High school in 2010! I was so proud of her that day!
And now she has 1 year of college under her belt and walked away her first year with all A's and B's in all of her classes. Now that is really something to be a proud mamma about.
She still really does not know what she wants to do, but has started taking some criminal justice classes because that is something that she is interested in. So with that being said, here is her graduation picture the day she walked across the stage in her cap and gown!

Crackle Flower Technique

So over at Bella Creations we are always surfing the internet and sharing techniques that we find that we like and sometimes we try them and sometimes we save them and think we will try them later. Well there was one that I just had to try. CRACKLE MEDIUM.
I know alot of you probably have TH crackle paint, I do, but I can't afford all the colors. Now, I have a ton of different colors of acrylic paints, they are cheap enough at HL. And the crackle medium was pretty cheap too also using a 40% off coupon.

So here is a tut that we found.
(CLICKE HERE)

And here is the flower that I made with the TH Tattered flower die and chip board.

Older Lay outs

So I just wanted to make a new POST today just for the heck of it. I was browsing one of my older galleries looking at older lay outs that I have done, and amazed at how much my style has changed in scrap booking over the course of the years. I mean I knew that it had changed but to actually look at some of your older lay outs and compare them to current ones it's a little funny.
So here are a couple back in the day when I was obsessed with RUB ON's. LOL When I started scrapping years ago it was all about stickers and I was obessed with those too. Then rub on's became an obsession and I was using them on every page I did.

Here are just a couple. And I appologize for the bad photos too, that was also back in the day when I didn't have a good camera and was scanning all my lay outs. They look aweful!

Dt reveal on our sketch lay outs..............WHOO HOO!

So hop on over to the blog and check out the sketch and all the DT work that was done. Fabulous lay outs girls......they are all super cute!

Here is mine:
I cut out squares and adhered them to the paper, I then took some glimmer mist and sprayed it over the squares. I also took the sprayer off of the glimmer mist bottle and let drops drop onto the page. I had seen this technique and wanted to give it a try.

And this is the sketch by our fabulous Cheri.
